History of Egyptian Sugaring
Body Sugaring has its formidable roots in our Motherland of Africa, in Ancient Egypt. Much like the entire beauty industry, the roots derive from one of the greatest civilizations of the earth’s history. Ancient Egyptians abhorred body hair. They considered body hair to be unclean. In fact, it was illegal to come before Pharaoh’s court with excessive amounts of hair, especially facial hair. It was also mandatory for Ancient Egyptian brides to be presented to their grooms hairless.
Many other hair removal techniques were discovered, but the preferred method was utilizing a sugar paste formula to slather and roll around the skin to remove the hair from the root.
The formula consisted of sugar, lemon juice, and water.
This is the same formula Sweet Tea Nile Sugar Med Spa uses today.
There are other ways that this glorious paste can be used, however, much like our ancestors, we prefer the Egyptian technique as opposed to utilizing sugar paste to wax. The Egyptian Sugaring technique allows for the follicles to be treated, lubricated, and softened. Bacteria and inflammation that causes painful ingrowns are destroyed once the sugar paste is saturated within the follicles. This allows for the full content of the follicle to be removed which often yields to a more painless hair removal experience, and a much cleaner and smoother result.
This makes Sugaring a much more pleasant experience even to that of waxing when this technique is performed correctly.

WHAT IS SUGARPLAINING?
Sugarplaining is an exclusive treatment performed at Sweet Tea Med Spa. It takes the place of dermaplaning and is a quick exfoliating facial treatment that involves Egyptian sugaring for the entire face; removing dead skin cells, cellular debris, and vellus hair. Enzymes from the sugar paste break down dead skin cells, while eliminating bacteria and hydrating the skin. This leaves a smooth , supple, and fresh result. No nicks, or raw uncomfortable feel. Dermaplaning with the blade is used afterwards to lightly refine over all results along with a refreshing and hydrating mask that cools and comforts the skin.
